Summary and Corporate Profile:

Our client, one of the leading mining firms in Ghana with 800 direct staff and 1200 indirect staff, is looking to recruit a Drill Rig Maintenance Supervisor. The candidate ensures the operational reliability and maintenance of all underground drill rigs (development and production), ensuring planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules are adhered to, breakdowns are minimized, and maintenance work meets both safety and quality standards. The position supports the achievement of underground mining production targets through effective equipment maintenance management.

Role Description and Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and supervise all maintenance, repair, and service activities on underground development and production drill rigs.
• Execute and ensure compliance with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Diagnose faults, inspect, service, and repair drill rigs and associated components (mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems).
• Lead daily maintenance activities and ensure timely and effective resolution of breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime.
• Supervise workshop activities and field maintenance teams to ensure high-quality work standards and safety compliance.
• Conduct inspections and over-inspections of completed work to ensure adherence to standards.
• Identify parts and spares requirements and initiate timely procurement in accordance with mine procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and work orders using the company’s maintenance management systems.
• Ensure maintenance work is performed in accordance with the company’s SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment)
• policies and statutory requirements.
• Support the training and development of artisans, technicians, and apprentices under the underground maintenance team.
• Actively participate in maintenance planning meetings, tool box meetings, and weekly reviews.
• Contribute to budgeting processes by providing inputs for maintenance resources and parts requirements.

Working Experience and Education Requirements:

• National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of underground drill rigs.
• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or senior technical role within an underground mining environment.
• Proven track record of improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime.
• Experience working in a multicultural and dynamic underground mining environment.
• Advanced Certificate in Hydraulics and Basic Electrical Systems.
• Certificate of competency in reading and interpreting auto-electrical schematics.
• Valid DE Class Ghana Heavy Vehicle Driver’s License (or equivalent for heavy vehicles above 8000kg).
• Inspecting Engineer Certificate from MinCom
• OEM-specific training certifications (e.g., Sandvik, Epiroc, Caterpillar) would be an added advantage.
