Summary and Corporate Profile:

Our client, one of the leading mining firms in Ghana with 800 direct staff and 1200 indirect staff, is looking to recruit a Senior Drill & Blast Supervisor, responsible for planning and organizing drilling and blasting activities within the highest standard of safety at the Wassa open pit mine.

Role Description and Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and monitor all drilling and blasting activities effectively.
• Coordinate and ensure the availability of explosive materials and other drill and blast consumables for smooth operational delivery
• Ensure production holes are drilled and charged up to the correct design specification
• Recommend cost-effective methods of drilling and blasting to ensure judicious use of resources
• Prepare reports and complete all documentation for charge-up and blasting
• Communicate performance expectations to the team and address any performance challenges
• Liaise with the HR Department to establish a training and development plan for the team and ensure its implementation
• Ensure employees comply with all Company policies/procedures, including safety and environmental standards
• Conduct routine toolbox meetings and inspections at the beginning of every shift
• Maintain conformity to all standards requirements and other mine regulations regarding health, safety, environment, and community relations.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the Leader.

Working Experience and Education Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• Certificate in Drilling
• Seven (7) years of working experience in drill and blast activities in an open mine.
• Knowledge of the Mining Regulation LI2182.
• Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency in Mine Planning & CAD software such as Surpac & AutoCAD.
• Fundamental mechanical knowledge in drill Rigs
• Must possess the following certificates:
• My Captain’s certificate of competency from the Minerals Commission of Ghana
• Mine Rescue certificate of competency from the Minerals Commission of Ghana
• First Aid certificate from St John Ambulance
• Driver’s License C or better issued by the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Authority.

• Demonstrated organizational skills
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the mining operations value chain.
• Detail-oriented to understand complex systems, and recognize that a minor error can cause major problems.
• Proven safety mindset with hazard identification and risk management skills.
• Ability to create an environment of teamwork and willingness to help co-workers
• Self-directed and motivated, demonstrating initiative to do more than expected or required in the position.
