Profile:

Our client, one of the leading mining firms in Ghana with 800 direct staff and 1,200 indirect staff, is seeking to recruit a Senior Mining Supervisor – Open Pit. The candidate oversees and directs the activities of the mining team in order to mine valuable resources while continually improving processes to optimize production and reduce costs.

Role Description and Responsibilities

• Manage equipment utilization effectively to meet production and operational demands.
• Review regular reports and assist in performing process audits in accordance with the company’s objectives.
• Prepare project updates within the required timeframe and assign daily individual tasks to team members.
• Maintain regular dust suppression within all operational and surrounding communities in accordance with
• statutory demands
• Assist with manpower planning and preparation of the annual departmental budget.
• Monitor or ensure good pit accesses and ramps maintenance for safe/smooth haulage.
• Manage and coordinate pit dewatering and all other mine-wide earth works.
• Ensure timely reporting of leading indicators to the Safety Department.
• Ensure daily ore tonnage targets are met, and assist with ore hauled reconciliation at the end of the month.
• Monitor and ensure that all equipment operators have the required statutory certification.
• Maintain conformity to all standards requirements and other mine regulations regarding health, safety, environment, and community relations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the leader from time to time.

Working Experience and Education Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Seven (7) years of working experience in mining.
• Knowledge of the Mining Regulation LI2182.
• Fundamental mechanical knowledge of drill rigs.
• Must possess the following certificates:
• Mine Captain certificate of competency from the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
• First Aid certificate from St John Ambulance.
• Driver’s License B or better issued by the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Authority.

• Ability to work well in teams and collaborate with diverse groups, and to take initiative when needed.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the mining operations value chain.
• Detail-oriented to understand complex systems, and recognize that a minor error can cause major problems.
• Proven safety mindset with hazard identification and risk management skills.
• Self-directed and motivated, demonstrating initiative to do more than expected or required in the position.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to evaluate and interpret data.
• Ability to identify problems and provide recommendations to department leadership and other stakeholders.
• Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, AutoCAD).
• Strong technical and operational understanding of surface mining practices.
• Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
