Summary and Corporate Profile: Our client, a leading mining company in Ghana, is seeking to recruit a TSF and Water Management Foreman to oversee the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) and associated water systems. The successful candidate will ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient handling of tailings and process water in line with environmental, health, and dam safety regulations. This role is critical to environmental protection, production continuity, and sustainable water resource management. Role Description and Responsibilities: ● Operate, monitor, and maintain TSF and water management infrastructure, including pumps, pipelines, decanters, sumps, seepage systems, diversion channels, and spigots. ● Ensure high standards of housekeeping and safety across work areas. Working Experience and Education Requirements: ● Minimum of a Senior High School Certificate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ● Strong situational awareness and strict adherence to safety and dam-safety procedures. ● Conduct regular inspections of TSF embankments, beaches, drains, spillways, and pipelines; record observations and escalate issues promptly.
● Implement dam safety protocols, water management procedures, and emergency response plans; actively participate in drills.
● Support compliance with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ICMC standards. Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, environmental officers, and operations teams to address anomalies and implement corrective measures.
● Manage discharge and water recycling activities to achieve site water-balance targets and meet regulatory requirements.
● Control erosion and sedimentation in and around discharge points.
● Identify, report, and follow up on safety and environmental incidents.
● Mentor and train new or relief operators to ensure knowledge transfer and operational efficiency.
● Maintain accurate data logs, prepare basic reports, and perform water-balance calculations as required.
● Perform other related duties as assigned by the TSF and Water Management Supervisor.
● A certificate in Civil or Mining Engineering will be an added advantage.
● Minimum of 5 years’ experience in TSF and water management operations within a mining environment.
● Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License.
● The ability to operate a backhoe will be considered an advantage.
● Basic mechanical skills for pump and valve operation and maintenance.
● Competent in data recording, simple water-balance calculations, and inspection reporting.
● Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work across departments.
● Problem-solving ability under pressure and attention to procedural compliance.
