Summary and Corporate Profile:

Our client, a leadinga leading leadership and organisational effectiveness firm in Ghana, is seeking to recruit a General Manager who will provide overall strategic, operational, and commercial leadership for Ghana
operations while strengthening the firm’s institutional reputation, revenue performance, and delivery capability. The General Manager will oversee business development, client engagement, programme delivery,
partnerships, and internal operations to ensure that the firm consistently delivers high-quality advisory and leadership solutions.
This role requires a commercially minded leader who understands how professional services firms grow through strong client relationships, credible thought leadership, and disciplined execution.

Role Description and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

● Support the Founder in translating company’s strategic vision into practical business priorities and operational plans.
● Lead the execution of the firm’s growth strategy across advisory services, leadership programmes and the academy.
● Identify priority sectors, institutional relationships and market opportunities that strengthen the firm’s long-term positioning.
● Provide leadership across all core functions, including business development, programme delivery, partnerships and operations.

Business Growth and Market Development

● Drive revenue growth by overseeing the development and conversion of institutional opportunities across corporate, public and development sectors.
● Provide strategic direction for business development activities, including institutional relationship building, tender participation and proposal development.
● Work closely with the Business Development Manager and senior consultants to ensure a strong and disciplined pipeline of opportunities.
● Support major client engagements and participate in high-level negotiations, presentations and institutional meetings where required.

Client Relationship and Management

● Develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders across corporate organisations, public institutions and donor-funded programmes.
● Ensure high-quality client engagement from initial opportunity through programme delivery and long-term partnership development.
● Increase client retention and repeat business by managing accounts strategically and providing consistently high-quality service.
● Represent the firm at senior stakeholder engagements, institutional meetings and industry platforms.

Programme and Service Oversight

● Ensure high-quality design and delivery of advisory engagements, leadership programmes and academy offerings.
● Provide oversight to programme teams and associate consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to the firm’s quality standards.
● Support the development of innovative leadership and organizational effectiveness solutions aligned with institutional needs.
● Ensure strong coordination between business development and delivery teams to maintain client satisfaction.
Operational and Organisational Management
● Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the firm’s activities in Ghana.
● Strengthen internal systems, processes and performance management to support efficient delivery.
● Oversee resource planning, including consultants, associates and programme staff.
● Ensure strong governance, financial discipline and compliance with institutional and contractual requirements.
Brand, Thought Leadership and Market Positioning
● Strengthen visibility and reputation as a credible leadership and organisational effectiveness advisory firm.
● Support the development of thought leadership content, executive briefings, leadership insights and institutional
publications.
● Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, speaking engagements and institutional collaborations that expand the firm’s reach.
● Ensure the firm maintains a professional and consistent presence across all institutional platforms.

 

Working Experience and Education Requirements:

Essential
● 10 or more years of professional experience in consulting, advisory services, organizational development, or professional services environments
● Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing complex client engagements
● Strong experience engaging with senior executives, public sector leaders and institutional stakeholders
● Proven experience driving business growth, institutional partnerships or consulting engagements
● Strong understanding of leadership development, organizational transformation, or HR advisory services
● Experience managing projects, programmes or consulting teams in professional services environments

Desirable
● Experience leading advisory or consulting teams in Africa or emerging markets
● Exposure to leadership development, executive education or organisational effectiveness programmes
● Strong understanding of institutional procurement and tender processes

● Strong strategic thinking and commercial judgement
● Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability
● Credibility and confidence when engaging senior leaders and institutional decision-makers
● Strong communication and presentation skills
● Ability to lead in a lean, entrepreneurial and fast-moving organisation
● Strong organisational and operational management capability
● Ability to balance business development, delivery oversight and internal leadership responsibilities
